    Dr. Rick Dunlap

A holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle has always been an easy fit for me.  Raised in a household that emphasized natural healing, as a child I was never given medications for fever or syrups for a cough.  Both my parents understood the body’s natural ability to heal itself and from that philosophy, I gained a true appreciation of what the human body is capable of.

After high school, I pursued my passion for scuba diving and enlisted in the Navy.  I later became a member of the Navy’s elite special warfare unit, SEAL Team.  It was as a Navy SEAL that the correlation between discipline and a determined mind became most evident as the training requirements pushed my body to extremes I never thought possible.  It was also during this training that I suffered a career-ending injury, resulting in permanent blindness to my right eye.

As devastated as I was to end my career as a Navy SEAL, I knew I wanted to pursue a career involving holistic health.  I enrolled at Temple University, and graduated Magnum Cum Laude with a degree in Physical Therapy.  I spent four years working in both hospital and private practice settings, providing hands-on treatment to patients with painful injuries.  It was during this time that I noticed the true benefit of this hands-on treatment and the intensity in which my patients responded.  I was encouraged to take this philosophy one step further and enrolled at Life West in California to obtain my degree in chiropractic, a profession dedicated to natural healing through hands-on care.

Spending most of my adult life educating people of the benefits of chiropractic care, I am grateful for the wonderful patients that I come in contact with on a daily basis.  Many have been on the medical roller-coaster, ingesting drugs that mask the pain or hide the symptoms but never truly get to the root of the problem.  I am inspired by those that take a different route and choose to take control of their own body and pursue a holistic approach to allow the body to heal itself.  The body knows what it needs to do, without the interference of drugs or pain medication.  My greatest achievement is found in assisting a patient to enjoy a purposeful, pain-free life and experiencing all that life has to offer.

I also hold a certification in Functional Medicine, which is post graduate education in Functional Endocrinology and Clinical Nutrition.

I offer several nutrition and weight loss programs as well as a specialized Type II Diabetes Reversal Program for qualifying individuals. Through in depth laboratory testing, we will pinpoint the underlying issues and direct cause of your symptoms in order to cultivate a holistic treatment plan.
